The Cornchild Diaries
The Cornchild Diaries

I am Olan, an 18 year old boy from the Philippines. I also call myself Nalo or Cheezy. I am currently pursuing my undergraduate studies in Singapore. People close to me say that I'm crazy and corny. But people who don't know me well may see me as someone silent and mysterious. That's because I only talk and share to people who reach a certain level of closeness to me. I like singing, listening to music, dancing crazily, eating Skittles and M&Ms, drinking Dutch Lady Chocolate Flavoured Milk and having chicken teriyaki for lunch and/or dinner. Basically, that's all I could say about me, cornchild.

Valentine's Day = Crappy Day

I know

I've been gone for a looong time. And I also have a lot to talk about. But I'm just too tired to write them all. So I'll just fast forward my entry to today...

Valentine's Day

Beware: I only had 4 hours of sleep. So I could be very sensitive and emotional =p

Haaa.. It's Valentine's Day. The Day of Love. Everybody's gleaming with joy today. People greeting other people. Wow, what a nice day for them.

But for me, NOT.

First of all, I just had an untimely case of insomnia this morning. I went to bed at about 2:00 am, planning to wake up at 8:30 am since I had a lecture at 9:30 am. But I really had a hard time falling asleep. I had to imagine flying over sleeping sheep while listening to a boring lecture. That was really tough. The experts said it would work, but it didn't for me. I ended up rolling my eyes until I felt tired. Now that was quite effective. Soon, I slept like a baby. But that didn't end there. I had this weird dream where I was just dancing around. I was just dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing... until I finally woke up! It was still 6:30 in the morning! I didn't even feel like I ever slept. I tried to steal another 2 hours of sleep, but my mind and body just wouldn't let me. Since the birds were already chirping loudly and my roommate's alarm clock was already buzzing, I decided to rise and face the beautiful morning. What a great start for Valentines =S

Then, I realized that we had to do a make-up lecture for a certain subject. And I thought it was at 8:30 am today! So I rushed to the bathroom and showered. Then I put on my clothes, prepared my stuff for school and voila, I was ready to go. I arrived at school at about 8:25 am. I passed by the canteen to buy some capuccino (which was quite bland) and then rushed to the lecture theater. And guess what I saw when I got there. NOTHING. There was nobody inside the lecture theater. The lights were even off. I was really pissed off. Then I suddenly remember my dear lecturer telling us about a make-up lecture on February 15. SO, it's still tomorrow! Wow, it just got better.

So see. I really had a crappy day. And the fact that it's Valentine's Day today just made this day one of the worst in my life.

I just can't stand the atmosphere. People preparing for dates, arghh! I just couldn't stand them. Forgive me guys but as much as I enjoy seeing you enjoy the thought of dating later, seeing you enjoy is like someone telling me "YOU"RE SINGLE! NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN YOU! NOBODY CARES FOR YOU!" Yah. I'm single, both uninterested and uninteresting. I don't have a date today. I just have me, my family and God. It's a good thing that I called my mother. Our conversation reminded me how my family really cares for me. God how I miss them! We used to celebrate Valentine's Day like some family day. We would go out and eat in a restaurant. Then we'll just talk and talk. Then I would play with my little brother in the playground. (By the way, I'm on the verge of crying now so PLEASE STOP ME!)

Now that I'm ok, let me continue. (I didn't cry. I'm too sleepy to cry)

But my Valentine's Day isn't all crappy. There were also some moments where I felt happy and touched. First, ivyyyyy gave me this little bottle which looked like a cross between a baby feeding bottle and a urine sample bottle. Hehe. In it were little yellow and purple hearts which she painfully made. It was a great gift, although the way I received it wasn't really that great. Second, jan (my Thai friend) gave me a ferrero rocher! Apparently, she gave each of her friends a ferrero rocher. It was really sweet of her to do that =) So my day isn't really bad at all.

Guess I have to end it here. I have a "date" tonight in some "fancy place" that serves "fancy dinner".

FYI: "date" = computer
"fancy place" = room
"fancy dinner" = chicken teriyaki (which I bought in Canteen A)

(Gosh, I'm really boring)

Bye!

And...

Happy Valentines! =)
