The Cornchild Diaries
The Cornchild Diaries

I am Olan, an 18 year old boy from the Philippines. I also call myself Nalo or Cheezy. I am currently pursuing my undergraduate studies in Singapore. People close to me say that I'm crazy and corny. But people who don't know me well may see me as someone silent and mysterious. That's because I only talk and share to people who reach a certain level of closeness to me. I like singing, listening to music, dancing crazily, eating Skittles and M&Ms, drinking Dutch Lady Chocolate Flavoured Milk and having chicken teriyaki for lunch and/or dinner. Basically, that's all I could say about me, cornchild.

The Nanny Diaries

After 18 days of idleness, I'm back. I'm in the internet cafe, killing some time. I have to wait for my brother's classes to end, which will happen 2 hours and 30 minutes from now. I've been assigned as the temporary "nanny" for my little brother coz the real nanny, i.e. my mother, can't make it today. She has to accompany my father in some event (I believe it's the oath-taking ceremonies for new government officials). Well if you're wondering why I'm wasting my time in the internet cafe rather than just go home and rest for a while, well I can't go home. I'm in Butuan City right now (where my little brother studies), about 30 kilometers from my home in a small town called Cabadbaran. It's about an hour ride from Butuan to Cabadbaran, so I really can't go home. I would just waste 50 pesos if I go home and then come back here. And besides, my little brother is quite stubborn, so anyone who accompanies him has to be as near as possible.

Yes, I'm not a city boy anymore. I'm a small town boy now. We used to live in Butuan. But because my father won as councilor in Cabadbaran, we have to stay most of the time there. We still got a house in Butuan, but we've only slept there for a night since I arrived here. Yes, just a night. But I already got used to living in Cabadbaran. We used to spend our vacation there when I was young (when we still lived in Davao City). And now we finally live there. Our house there is just small, smaller than our small house here in Butuan. But what's good about our house there is that it keeps the family together. Because the house is so small, we can't help but see each other's faces everytime we do something. And actually I kinda like it, as I have not seen them for 5 months. So that's it about my life here.

I wanna watch Harry Potter 3!!! and Troy!!! and A Day After Tomorrow!!! Waaah!! Too bad these movies are either "already shown" or "not yet shown here". And besides, I don't trust the cinema houses here in Butuan. Most of them are very old, while the new ones here are quite "eeky". So maybe I'll just download these movies when I go back to Singapore. **evil laugh**

Well, that's it for now. I've got other things to do (like check some email and read some news).

Talk to you next time! Adios!
